Mooniba says: “Julie B Steynberg I am truly honoured to have been recognised and for being nominated by you as a Difference Maker SA. I am determined to continue paying it forward by sharing the Blue Ribbon Ceremonies with love and eternal peace. I trust that with the grace and blessings of God I will always be of value in uplifting and inspiring greatness in the lives of everyone I meet”. In her own words Mooniba says: “I am always in gratitude for the blessing of being a mother of two gracious girls, a son, grandmother of three gorgeous grandsons and a Mentor to many women and men who have walked a path of self-discovery and personal growth with me. Having a natural affinity to support growth and development of people in general and always being fiercely determined to change the lives of others from a young age, I was blessed with an opportunity to do just that in the Direct Selling industry 15 years ago. I love my position as Regional Mentor at Honey Fashion accessories and wake up every day knowing that I have made a difference in the lives of so many women who earn an in-come of substance today”. To my special Mentor Angelique Du Toit who 15 years ago inspired me, to live a life of purpose, to always look at opportunities to invest in myself and to uplift others on my journey of life, gifted me with a Difference Maker SA Blue Ribbon in 2016 over a special coffee meeting when I shared my current development and future vision for D.A.R.E to be Empowered. My journey with Angelique over the |
years has been outstandingly inspiring and in 2016 I was invited by a friend to attend Angelique’s book launch ‘What In The World Are You Waiting for’ the strong message from Angelique at her opening speech reignited my passion for the many dreams and goals that I still needed to achieve.
Four years ago in my field of developing independent owned businesses in the Direct Selling Industry, I came across the stigmatic world of Menstrual Health, the lack of Menstrual Products and Health Education and while doing some research on this I found out that hundreds of young girls around the country dropped out of school because they did not have excess to menstrual health products. UNESCO Stats also showed that 4 Million out 7 Million school girls in South Africa go through their monthly cycle without being able to afford basic sanitary wear, this creates the vicious cycle of early childhood pregnancies, girls not finishing school and a host of other social issues that affects the growth and development of communities. It was in this season of my Journey of Life that I met another great woman of substance and humility, Founder of Dignity Dreams Sandra Miller. I was honoured to have been invited to sit on her board for three years, to support and assist her in educating the public about the challenges women were facing for the lack of being able to afford sanitary products. Sandra was also gifted with a Difference Makers S.A. Blue Ribbon by Angelique Du Toit and the joy and tears in her eyes on that day will always be a memory I will treasure forever. Sandra who was determined to leave a legacy of greatness in her season of life, sadly passed away last year and has left a huge void of loss in my life and those of many who knew her.
D.A.R.E to Be Empowered was founded at this time on supporting women, men and youth who had business savvy to develop and empower themselves as Entrepreneurs and to pay it forward. Together with many of these amazing women and men in 2017 we were instrumental in handing over 6500 washable sanitary pads, that was worth 1 Million rand’s to the Girl Child across South Africa . The hard work and commitment to this worthy initiative has rewarded me with excellent feedback from girls and women who have received these life changing packs.
Nature Lovers S.A. started as a support group for women and men afraid to travel out alone and early morning. My co- Founder Maajedah Meer and I have registered over 50 members of all ages and cultures who hike with us most weekends. This too has become a wonderful opportunity to uplift women and men to make a new friend, to network and take leadership in organising weekend hiking trips. Maajedah and I are in the process of formalizing and registering the club to support more opportunities of self-development and personal growth, while exploring our beautiful country .
