Together we spread the message of Love in S.A.
Caroline Ungersbock Chair and Co-founder of the Sustainable Tourism Partnership Programme NPC. It is an honour for me to be nominated as one of the top 100 Difference Makers South Africa. I am presently the Chair and Co-founder of the Sustainable Tourism Partnership Programme NPC together with Dr Niki Glen. Together our vision is to be the most impactful mass sustainable tourism implementation programme. We work in South Africa and Africa. We use sustainable tourism principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to create harmonious and prosperous societies working in partnership with central, regional, local, public, private and community stakeholders We advocate the empowerment of people, preservation of the environment, economic prosperity for communities and thriving small businesses. I am particularly passionate about uplifting rural communities through economic development strategies where the communities have their input as to what they have, what they would like and together work on the path to economic development for that community. This is not a lick of paint of a school or 1 day picking up of litter, it is constant communication with a steering committee or a Sustainable Economic Development Forum where all stakeholders are involved. Tourism is the new ‘Gold’ in South Africa and can create many jobs, we need communities to understand how important Tourism is and we need communities to understand what role they can play in the value chain to create a great environment for local economic development. It is the creation of the value chain that many can prosper. Whilst Tourism is the catalyst we need to create an environment that the people want to live in. Where the people are safe and secure, the environment is protected and we create economic prosperity for communities by creating sustainable businesses and programmes. |
I have visited many countries in the world thru our affiliation with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation. I have learned a lot and adapt great international examples to local opportunities in rural areas.
My passion to get as many people in Africa to understand what role they have in life. Everyone is valuable and we all can contribute to our own wealth and prosperity if we only understand what opportunities there are and the path that we need to take to get to them.
I have held workshops in over 120 towns in South Africa over the past 6 years, I have spoken internationally on many occasions and every opportunity is a wonderful learning opportunity.
