To receive this award is a humbling reminder that every small gesture of kindness makes a difference. I thank Difference Makers SA for this platform that encourages me to do more and to keep on Changing Lives Making a Difference. I also want to thank Annemarie Cronje who is a true friend and mentor and who has Nominated me to be part of this fantastic platform. I believe that one person cannot change the world alone, but that one person joining with another difference maker, together we can make a difference in our communities and surroundings with one good deed of love and giving. One important life lesson learned is that how you make people feel is what most people remember. I am very much involved with Look Good Feel Better programs to empower & encourage female cancer patients. As chairlady for the Free State I intend to give my best, because by giving you mostly receive much more back. Also am I on board in programs for Reach for Recovery. We reach out to patients, they then are given information about their treatment, the disease and what to expect. Above all we inspire them with hope, as all volunteers are breast cancer survivors. I am a mom of two and wife to a very special husband. I have two beautiful children who at the age of 9 and 4 respectively travelled the cancer journey with me, and inspired me to carry on through chemo and radiation. My husband is my best supporter who helps to make dreams reality and is always on my side to guide and help. We are a special team. I can honestly say that my journey so far has been one of finding my true purpose. I love the change it has brought to my character, I had found that to give love is one of the most powerful tools there is. |
