I am Charlotte du Plessis founder of Woman of Substance and I am deeply honoured to be nominated as a Top100 SA Difference Maker. I’ve had a very colourful life and been blessed with great opportunities and paying forward is what I live by. I had been a volunteer fundraiser for Child Welfare and CANSA for many years. In 2001 I launched the CANSA Woman of the Year Awards to honour my mom who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a vision and in 2013 I launched Woman of Substance a platform to mobilise women to raise money for charity. I transformed Woman of Substance by developing a Five Pillar Empowerment Program for personal transformation and skills development. On the 21st March 2015 the Living on Purpose Journey of Discovery project launched at Constitution Hill in honour of Human Rights day. The WOS Academy was officially opened on the 23rd May 2015 to support the Five Pillar Empowerment program which is the heartbeat of the organisation. Our core purpose is to empower women through further education, training and skills development. What sets WOS apart from other organisations is that our membership platform is open to women and men from all walks of life and not only in business. The WOS vision is to impact the life of every South African woman empowering her to achieve her personal and financial goals. |
